I waited in front of the stable early Saturday morning. It was only seven, and I was used to getting up much earlier back on the ranch. Already dressed for the day I watched as the shiny new truck pulling the equally as new trailer behind it drive in front of the large barn. What few riders that were here this early stared just a bit to long at the grand ride that held my show horse. Was it mine? Heck no. A friend of my dad's offered to trailer my horse from Tennessee to Kingslee. Last night I got in late and I was able to unpack and get settled in before getting up early this morning to meet my horse.
Once the truck stopped and turned off the engine, I stepped forward and went to the back of the trailer, purple lead rope in hand. I heard Missy stomping and moving around but I knew she wouldn't make a fuss. The man driving the truck came around to help me. He opened up the door for me and I walked up the ramp. Missy turned her head to look at me and a shrill whinny escaped her. "Hey babe." I unclipped the trailer tie from her leather halter that had 'Ms America Clu' engraved on a gold plaque on the noseband and put in place the purple lead rope. Then, I backed her out of the trailer and onto the stable driveway. I turned to the driver and thanked him, for he had already unloaded my huge tack box that was practically a locker, which held both my show saddle and practice saddle, along with everything else.
I watched as the trailer pulled away and left Kingslee while Missy inspected her new surroundings. She was already a pro at adapting to new surroundings since we had shown so much, but I never liked pushing her. After she had taken in everything, I led her into the barn and put her right in her stall. She inspected it along with her new stablemates. I took her halter off and went to put it in the tack room. It was her good show one so I didn't want to get it roughed up. Then, I went back out to check on Missy before I had to report at the barn managers office to get to work.
When I reached the office, a envelope was taped on it with my name on it. I took it off and looked into it, seeing my instructions for the day. First I had to take out and exercise a horse named Kalypso, who was in stall number 37.
